Background

Anne Olson received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in audiology from the University of Texas at Austin and her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Kentucky. She joined the faculty in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Kentucky in 2004 after working as a clinical audiologist. She is currently serving as Chair for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Research Focus

Dr. Olson has focused her scholarly efforts in clinical research as it relates to Aural Rehabilitation for adults with hearing loss. Of particular interest has been the importance of providing adults with additional interventions beyond hearing aids and cochlear implants, such as auditory training. She is also interested in prevention programs to promote healthy hearing in young adults as well as interdisciplinary efforts to expand the understanding of the impact of addressing hearing loss to improve health outcomes.

Educational Focus

Dr. Olson is an instructor for several undergraduate courses related to Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation. She has also taught several courses in the interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral program

Clinical Focus

Dr. Olson was a clinical audiologist for 19 years and has been employed in a variety of settings including; private otolaryngology practices, a non-profit hearing and speech center and the public schools as an educational audiologist.
