Dr. Swartz earned a Bachelor of Health Science degree in medical laboratory science (2017), and a PhD in organic chemistry (2006) from the University of Kentucky, and has been a certified medical laboratory scientist since 2018. Dr. Swartz worked in the Special Chemistry and Toxicology laboratory at the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital from 2018-2021, and joined the medical laboratory science program as a faculty member in 2020.
Dr. Swartz teaches medical laboratory biochemistry, clinical immunology and serology, and clinical chemistry. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Kentucky Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
