David Fahringer, MSPH, PA-C Emeritus, is Professor Emeritus of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Kentucky and an internationally recognized leader in physician assistant education. During a career spanning more than 40 years, he served as educator, clinician, administrator, and mentor, helping shape PA education both in the United States and internationally.

At the University of Kentucky, Fahringer held numerous leadership positions, including Director of Admissions, Associate Program Director, Director of Postgraduate Education, Interim Program Director, and Interim Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. He also developed the University of Kentucky PA Academic Residency Program, creating innovative postgraduate training opportunities in multiple medical and surgical specialties.

Internationally, Fahringer helped develop physician assistant and physician associate programs in Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Poland, and other countries. He is a founding trustee and past president of the International Academy for Physician Associate Education (IAPAE) and has been a strong advocate for the global expansion of the profession.

A prolific teacher, lecturer, and author, Fahringer has contributed extensively to curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and international collaboration. His many honors include the IAPAE Lifetime Achievement Award and the University of Kentucky Global Impact Award for Distinguished Faculty Achievements in Internationalizing the Curriculum.

Through his commitment to education, service, and global health, David Fahringer has left a lasting legacy on the physician assistant profession and the generations of students and educators he has influenced.
