We Can Be Optimistic. And We Can Feel Good …

Date

Students, Faculty and Staff,

First I want to say I hope all of you are healthy and well. As the calendar pages turn, I see more and more of you getting outside, walking or otherwise taking advantage of the warmer weather. It’s just a great time to feel good, and I hope you are.

Many of you are also now back from Spring Break, your batteries recharged, and you are already looking toward the finish line of another semester. I too, am focused on accomplishing our goals in the next few months, and I’m filled with excitement and optimism as we all move forward.

But I also know there are still things in the world that give us concern. I was listening to the radio this week and I heard a fascinating commentary on mental health in 2022. The point? That it is normal for all of us to feel empathy for those suffering in the world, but to also be excited as we go on with our lives. We should embrace all of these emotions.

And if we are wondering how we might be able to do something to help, there are dozens of ways to volunteer. Use your talents to help someone else and give back, like this:

Then, remember to save some time for you. Yes, I feel the optimism in the air. But I also know that as we look toward what most of us call the end of the academic year, we will also encounter some stress.

You cannot forget to take care of yourself.

Once again, I want to thank you for all that you do. Your work makes the College of Health Sciences the best College on campus.

Keep healthy and well,

Scott
