Josh Burkhart is a 2018 alumnus of the UK Department of Physician Assistant Studies. After practicing in internal medicine, he joined the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in 2020 as an assistant professor. He is involved in both the didactic and clinical year portions of the student experience.
He is board certified through the NCCPA and is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. He previously served the people of eastern Kentucky working in primary care and general internal medicine. He currently practices part-time for UK St. Claire Pediatrics in Morehead, KY.
He is passionate about curricular improvement and student experience. He works to improve clinical reasoning through problem-based learning and clinical case experiences. He has discovered a passion for diversity and inclusivity and continues to work toward a more inclusive environment in the classroom. Through his previous experience as radiologic technologist he helps to elevate student understanding of imaging application and interpretation.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He and his family enjoy camping, fishing, and helping with his children’s extracurricular activities. He has been a member of Better Life Church in Morehead, KY for 16 years and has served the church is several different roles.
