Keiko Ishikawa, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The overarching goal of her research program is to generate knowledge that will guide clinical decision-making for directly addressing the communicative ability of individuals with voice and speech disorders. Her work focuses on two major areas: (1) the contribution of voice disorders to intelligibility deficits in real-world communication environments, and (2) the effect of the environments on speakers' ability to implement voice and speech therapy techniques. Dr. Ishikawa's research program lies at the interface of psycho- and physical-acoustic science, linguistics, and cognitive science.

Dr. Ishikawa received her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Certificate in Clinical & Translation Research at the University of Cincinnati. She also holds a Masters in Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College and a Bachelor of Art from Ferris University. Dr. Ishikawa is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certified speech-language pathologist. Prior to joining the University of Kentucky, she worked as a speech-language pathologist at the Blaine Block Institute for Voice Analysis and Rehabilitation, and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
