Leslie Woltenberg, PhD, MS Ed is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies for the UK Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She also serves as the Director of Scholarship within the College’s Office of Research and Scholarship. Dr. Woltenberg earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation in Higher Education in 2014 from UK. She earned a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs in 2007 and Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2005.

Two decades of professional service to the University of Kentucky and the greater Lexington community includes a variety of teaching, assessment, and administrative roles in education. Prior to joining the faculty, she served as Associate Director of UK’s Center for Interprofessional Health Education and was instrumental in development and evaluation of the nationally recognized interprofessional curricular and co-curricular offerings. Her background also includes extensive experience in student services and enrollment management.

As an instructor, Dr. Woltenberg is course director for the Research Methods and Masters Research Project courses. Her professional service includes program evaluation, student advising, and committee membership at the Department, College, and University levels. She co-leads the College of Health Sciences Faculty Learning Community for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Nationally, she is active with organizations such as the Physician Assistant Education Association and the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education.

Research interests include the scholarship of teaching and learning, assessment in the health professions, student development, and interprofessional education. She is passionate about developing health professions scholars with emotional intelligence and acumen in evidence-based medicine. Her research has been presented and awarded at local, national, and international conferences. In 2023, Dr. Woltenberg received the Kingston Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Excellence in Scholarship Award for Early Faculty. She was named a UK Interprofessional Faculty Fellow in 2018.

Dr. Woltenberg and her husband enjoy time with their sons including involvement with their church, participation in the local soccer community, and supporting the UK Wildcats as part of the Big Blue Nation.
