Since she was born in 1980 in Manzini, Swaziland (Eswatini), Africa, Tiffany Ann “Thandiwe" Fahringer-Underwood 's life was filled by caring people from around the globe. She grew in that spirit and, as one of her friends said, “Her joy bubbled out of her like she couldn't contain the love she had for her family, friends, and the world." Her parents, David and Fonda Fahringer; colleagues; family; and friends created a scholarship in the physician assistant studies program in the UK College of Health Sciences to honor her and share the love that graced her life.
Tiffany moved from Swaziland to the United States when she was six years old. She graduated from Madison Central High School in Kentucky and then in 2002 from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio with a degree in accounting and finance. Tiffany's first job after graduating was in accounting in Richmond, Kentucky, but she soon moved to Nashville to build her career. Tiffany met and married Craig Underwood in 2018. He was the love of her life. They lived in Burns, Tennessee, until her sudden passing at home on December 13, 2021. She was eight weeks pregnant with her first child.
The Tiffany Fahringer-Underwood Scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the physician assistant studies program in the UK College of Health Sciences with preference given to students who have provided service to others, demonstrate interest in medical mission work in the United States or across the globe, and are in good standing in the program.
