At various times in his life, Ryan has chased hurricanes, hunted for ghosts, searched for buried treasure and interviewed some of the world's most famous athletes. The point? He loves to tell stories, and he's been doing it for 20 years — ever since he graduated with a journalism degree and started writing for newspapers.

After moving into the world of higher education, he told stories for Northern Kentucky University (he earned his MA in English from there) and Xavier University, where he worked in marketing and taught media classes before coming to Kentucky's College of Health Sciences in January 2021. Ryan is an alum of UK's College of Education (he earned his MSEd in 2017), and he's always been a huge fan of the Wildcats. He's even written a few books on the topic. Check out his stories here.
