Tatiana (Tanya) Djafar joined the University of Kentucky in July 2022 as an Assistant Professor (Research Track) and works remotely in North Carolina as part of the military-related research efforts of the Sports Medicine Research Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Mechanical Engineering emphasis from the University of Southern California in 2013 and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Sports Performance from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2017. From 2014 to 2022, Tanya worked in the Gait Laboratory/Clinical Biomechanics Laboratory at Naval Medical Center San Diego, primarily focusing on rehabilitation progression and high-level functional activity performance of service members who underwent lower extremity amputation or experienced other lower extremity trauma. Her current research activities focus on performance enhancement, injury prevention, and injury rehabilitation in military personnel, and her other research interests include three-dimensional analyses of dynamic movements and the influence of biomechanical factors on musculoskeletal injury risk.
