LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2026) - The University of Kentucky’s Active Girls Healthy Women Program is hosting a Coffee Talk session at 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, on Zoom. These events are free and open to the university and public.

As part of the Sports Medicine Research Institute in the UK College of Health Sciences, the Active Girls Healthy Women Program is a group of researchers, clinicians and professionals who are working together to improve the health of girls and women through research, outreach and educational efforts.

Coffee Talks aim to discuss evidence-based strategies to advance girls’ and women’s physical activity and health. This month’s coffee talk features Shannon Garrison, D.O., program director of the Pelvic Dysfunction Clinic and assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at UK. She will be discussing pelvic floor health for active women.

Garrison specializes in helping patients restore function and manage chronic pain. Her clinical interests include pelvic dysfunction in men and women, sports and performing arts injuries, and post-traumatic headaches and migraines.
