Nicole Phillips came all the way from Colorado Springs, Colo., for her second year in the College of Health Sciences at UK.

The Human Health Sciences major on the pre-Physical Therapy track said it was much easier having gone through it all a time before.

“My first day has been great," she said. "I have enjoyed the comfort of being a sophomore. My professors all seem to genuinely care about my success in their classes and have set us up well. I have also enjoyed seeing my friends and starting a new routine!”

This seemed to be a theme Monday as hundreds of CHS students came back to campus. Many said they felt their professors had set them up for success, while it was nearly unanimous that they were excited to see old friends again.

“My first day of school has started well," said Sydney Brown, a Human Health Sciences major on the pre-Physician Assistant track from Sturgis, Ky. "I don't have many classes today, but I've already seen some familiar faces and met new people.”

It was another banner recruiting season for the College, which has more than 400 incoming freshmen, more than 1,200 undergraduate students and more than 1,600 total CHS students.

Brynne Seither, of Covington, Ky., is also on the pre-Physical Therapy track.

“My first day of school was great!" she said. "It is nice to get back to routine and to be back on campus. I’m excited for the next adventures this semester!”
