LTC/P Enrique Smith-Forbes, PH.D., OtTR/L, Cht Recieves The 2020 Young Alumni Award For The Uk College Of Health Sciences

Lieutenant Colonel/P Enrique Smith-Forbes, PhD, OTR/L, CHT will be awarded the Young Alumni Award on November 12, 2020 at the UK College of Health Sciences Hall of Fame and Young Alumni Award Virtual Celebration. 

This award is given to two alumni who have graduated from CHS in the past 10 years and who have been successful in their field, and have qualities in leadership, mentorship, and recognition. 

Lieutenant Colonel/P Smith-Forbes has continued to achieve and excel in the field of Occupational Therapy since his graduation from CHS. After joining the United States Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel/P Smith-Forbes received four academic degrees, including a PhD from the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program here at UK. 

Lieutenant Colonel/P Smith-Forbes graduated from UK in 2015 and went on to be stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He currently serves as Associate Professor and founding Program Director of the United States Army Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program at the Medical Center of Excellence in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. LTC/P Smith-Forbes has served as a mentor to many students during his time in these roles which ultimately resulted in the publication of three peer-reviewed publications, four national oral presentations, and twenty poster presentations that he co-authored with the students that he mentored. 

Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel/P Smith-Forbes has been officially placed on the list to be promoted to Colonel, which will take place in January 2021. This will be his second promotion in rank since 2015 when he was promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel. These promotions are clear indicators of the recognition he has received for his achievements.

Lieutenant Colonel/P Smith-Forbes has excelled in his leadership roles, research achievements, mentorship of students, and educational advancements-all of which have contributed to being awarded this prestigious honor.
