PHOTO GALLERY: CHS Moves in Largest Class Ever

Move in

By Ryan Clark

CHS Communications Director

Megan Kusmierz was ready.

On Monday, she finally moved in to her residence hall at UK, and the 18-year-old Human Health Sciences major (pre-med track) from Ocala, Fla., was already looking forward to the upcoming semester.

"I’m most excited about meeting new people and getting to adventure around Kentucky," she said. "I want to work hard to be successful and make the most out of my year and use my resources well."

She was one of the more than 370 freshmen who will be starting their classes in the College of Health Sciences this semester — the largest class in the history of the college. This also makes up more than 1,550 students enrolled overall — also the largest number ever.

It was a typically crowded move-in on Monday, one that was only marred by some mid-morning storms. But the students got in, and they brought all of their luggage and items (and sometimes, their parents) with them.

"I am very excited to meet new people and create new relationships," said Carson Montalta, an HHS major also on the pre-med track, from Marion, Ky.

Similarly, Riley Keating, an 18-year-old Athletic Training major from Beecher, Ill., is ready to make friends.

"I am super excited to meet people who have the same passions and interests as me," she said.

Next up? The CHS College Welcome on Thursday.
