PT Class of 1976 Takes Walk Down Memory Lane

Fifty years after earning their physical therapy degrees, six members of the PT Class of 1976 returned to campus for a special 50 year reunion and a walk down memory lane.

The reunion began with a walking tour of campus, where the group revisited the places that had once been such an important part of their college experience. They saw how much had changed, including the site of Donovan Hall, now home to the Jacob’s Science Building, and the former student apartments, now replaced by the W.T. Young Library. They also reminisced about Kennedy’s Bookstore, that has since given way to the parking garage where they parked their cars before beginning their tour.

After exploring campus, the group gathered in the Wethington Building, where PT faculty member Dr. Nathan Johnson and Emeritus PT faculty Dr. Terry Malone gave them a look at the College’s current physical therapy spaces and shared how the program has evolved since 1976.

The day was a chance to celebrate not only 50 years since graduation, but also the friendships, memories and experiences that have stayed with the Class of 1976 through the decades. While the campus and the profession have changed dramatically, their connection to one another and to the program that started it all remains.
