Ella Rosner is a junior from Appleton, Wisc., who is majoring in Human Health Sciences (on the pre-Physician Assistant Studies track). She was on Spring Break in Florida when the Wildcats men’s basketball team was playing its first and second round NCAA Tournament games in Milwaukee, so she had to miss those. But she and her friends decided they would not miss the following round in Indianapolis. Here’s Ella’s thoughts on what it means to her to be able to follow her team — something UK students haven’t been able to do for six years …
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Since I was a little girl, the sport of basketball has always been important to me and my family.

Because of that, I have filled out a March Madness bracket for as long as I can remember, and I had always heard about the legacy of Kentucky basketball. However, little did I know back then that I would have the opportunity to attend an NCAA Sweet Sixteen game to support my University.
Being an out-of-state student and attending the University of Kentucky is truly special. I initially chose to come to Kentucky because the idea of living in a new state and city excited me. I knew I wanted to attend a big school, meet new people, and step outside of my comfort zone.
I did not know a lot about the University of Kentucky, but once I stepped on campus, I knew I could call this place home. Over the past two years, I have really been able to embrace the SEC atmosphere, and I fell in love with the school in the process. There really is no place like Lexington.
Last Sunday, after the wins against Troy and Illinois, one of my roommates texted me and a few of my friends and simply said, “Let’s go to the Sweet Sixteen.” After she suggested it, it seemed like a no-brainer to us.
From there, four of my closest friends and I purchased our tickets and didn’t look back. It was just one of those opportunities we had to say yes to.
I’ve never been to Lucas Oil Stadium, but I am excited to witness the energy of the environment and all the fans. I have a feeling it is going to be something really special.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to go and support UK with my best friends.
Go Cats!
