UK Health Sciences Professor Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Joan Darbee Award

Joan Darbee, PT, PhD, a senior lecturer in the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Division of Physical Therapy, was named the 2015 recipient of the college’s Kingston Award for Excellence in Teaching. 

Darbee has been a faculty member in the Division of Physical Therapy since 2000. She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.S. in Physical Therapy from Boston University. She received a Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo before joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky.

“The Kingston Award for Excellence in Teaching is a prestigious honor, and it shows just how much value we as a college place on teaching,” said Sharon R. Stewart, Ed.D., associate dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs at the UK College of Health Sciences.

The Kingston Award was established in recognition of Richard “Dick” Kingston’s creativity and innovation in education. This award recognizes faculty for outstanding contributions and long-term consistent excellence in teaching.
