Welcome to National Athletic Training Month!
National Athletic Training Month is held every March in order to spread awareness about the important work of athletic trainers. In celebration of the month, we will be showcasing one AT each week for the next 30 days — "Our May 2022 graduates — the first of our program," said Johanna Hoch, PhD, ATC and Program Director of the Professional Masters in Athletic Training.
Angela Huston, MS, ATC, is currently the assistant athletic trainer at Asbury University, working with men’s soccer, men’s basketball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's golf. We asked her a couple of questions to continue this month's stories:
What do you love about your current role?
Some things I love about Asbury is the welcoming atmosphere and the amazing coworkers I have the opportunity to work with everyday, but my favorite part is the relationships I have formed with all of my athletes. It’s very rewarding getting to see who they are, on and off the field, and watch them grow as the year goes on.
What advice do you have for athletic training students?
I would tell any current AT student to give yourself a balance of school and social life. Burnout is very prevalent, so just remember to prioritize yourself. You can’t pour from an empty glass.
