This summer, the College of Health Sciences is spotlighting alumni from the Department of Health and Clinical Sciences in Where Are They Now posts.

Today, we'll hear from Tommy Hutchins, a 2023 Clinical Leadership and Management graduate:

"After four years of school in Lexington, my wife, MacKenzie, and I absolutely fell in love with the area, and we feel fortunate to now call it home," he said. "I currently serve as a Market Development Representative with CHI Saint Joseph Health, where I focus on driving surgical growth and improving patient accessibility. My role sits at the intersection of strategy and service, connecting high-performing specialists with the right referring providers to expand access, improve outcomes, and support sustainable growth."

Hutchins said it’s a position that advances both the mission and the financial health of the organization.

"The work requires a solid understanding of surgical workflows, referral dynamics, and the ability to translate clinical complexities into strategic, relationship-driven actions," he continued. "I’m passionate about continuing education and am currently pursuing my Master of Health Administration (MHA) through the University of Arizona Global Campus. I highly encourage current CLM students to explore and take full advantage of education benefits if their future employers offer them — it’s a powerful tool for professional growth."

Outside of work, you can find Hutchins and his wife and cheering on the Cats whenever they get the chance, soaking in the seasonal vibes at Keeneland or discovering new restaurants around town.

"We truly love experiencing all that Lexington and the Bluegrass region have to offer and feel lucky to call it home," he said.

And was what's his favorite memory from UK?

"The amazing people I met in the Clinical Leadership  Management program," he said. "To this day, some of my closest friends came from my graduating cohort — several of whom I now have the pleasure of working alongside professionally, including one whose wedding I had the honor of being part of. What made the CLM program so meaningful wasn’t just the education — it was the community."

More great examples of alumni to come!
