The mission of the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences (CHS) is to help the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond attain the highest level of health possible. Voluntary faculty are an essential part of that mission as they provide real-world experiences to our learners throughout their education.
Voluntary faculty have an official faculty appointment and devote time to one or more programs in an educational unit, generally at their location of primary appointment. Voluntary Faulty receive benefits that include access to the UK Libraries, access to several recreational and continuing education opportunities, discounts available to other UK employees etc.

Steps for Voluntary Appointments in the College of Health Sciences
- Complete Voluntary Faculty Interest Form and designate the program(s) you are interested in.
- The interest form will then be routed to the appropriate clinical coordinator in the Department(s) in which you are interested in becoming a Voluntary Faculty member.
- The Department Clinical Coordinator will reach out to you and give additional information regarding the voluntary faculty program and items needed for academic appointment.
- The Department Clinical Coordinator will send your materials for your faculty appointment to the CHS Office of Faculty Advancement for processing and submission to the Board of Trustees.
- The CHS Office of Faculty Advancement will reach out to you regarding your notice of academic appointment needed for submission.
- Once your appointment is approved by the Board of Trustees, you will be notified by the Department. Then you will be able to obtain access through UK (linkblue) for UK Libraries and additional associated benefits which can be found on the AHEC website.
