Robinson Graduate Awards for Research Creativity
Two Robinson Graduate Awards for Research Creativity are presented annually to graduate students affiliated with the College of Health Sciences who are working on an advanced degree.
The awards may be presented to two students (one at the doctoral level and one at either the master’s level or clinical doctorate level) who demonstrate and are engaged in productive and successful scientific research.
Selection Criteria
- Candidate's training and experiences
- Scholarly productivity
- Funding obtained
- Research independence
- Future potential as a scholar
A selection committee, chaired by the Associate Dean for Research (ADR), will be charged with observing the stated guidelines when reviewing nominations for the awards. The selection committee will be composed of the college’s ADR and Research Advisory Committee.
This committee will review all nominations, select one recipient for each level, and notify the Dean. The Robinson Graduate Awards for Research Creativity will be awarded annually unless there are no nominees or the selection committee determines that materials submitted are incomplete or inadequate. The Robinson Graduate Awards for Research Creativity may be awarded to the same individual on more than one occasion.
Guidelines for Submission of Materials
The Office of Research and Scholarship will announce the open date for submissions. There will also be more detailed information regarding submission materials and protocols.
If you have any questions about the Robinson Graduate Awards for Research Creativity, please contact Dr. Brian Noehren, Associate Dean of Research, at b.noehren@uky.edu.
CHS Awards for Excellence in Research
These awards are designed to recognize, reward, and encourage the research achievements of CHS faculty. The CHS Award for Excellence in Research may be given annually in one or both categories:
- Senior Investigator – in recognition of establishment of a productive, independently funded research program that makes a major impact in their discipline.
- Early-Stage Investigator – in recognition of a researcher, at the level of assistant professor, who has made and is likely to continue to make, significant contributions to their field.
The award is a monetary grant ($1,000) and an individual plaque. In any given year, there may be no faculty who meet the criteria for excellence in either category.
If the Senior Investigator award nominee also meets the qualifications of the University Research Professor Program, the nominee will be forwarded to the Vice President of Research. If selected, the awardee will receive the $10,000 award in addition to the college award. Should the nominee not be approved by the VPR as a Research Professor, the nominee will still receive the CHS Excellence in Research Award.
The Office of Research and Scholarship will broadcast the open call for the awards nominations in the college. ORS will also provide more detailed submission protocols and review process.
For questions or comments about the CHS Research Awards, please contact Dr. Brian Noehren, Associate Dean for Research, at b.noehren@uky.edu.
