Peyton Withycombe was definitely looking forward to the first day of classes.

“I’m most excited to make the most of my senior year by continuing to grow through my classes, research and involvement within the College of Health Sciences,” said the Chicago native, who is majoring in Human Health Sciences on the pre-Physician Assistant track. “I’m looking forward to creating lasting memories, strengthening the relationships I’ve made at UK, and taking the next steps toward becoming a PA!”

Withycombe joined hundreds of students who experienced the first day of fall classes in the College of Health Sciences Monday, and included in the excitement were nearly 500 incoming freshmen students.

Last week, at the CHS Welcome Day, officials noted a couple of helpful bits of information:

  • This week, advisers said they would host open-door office hours, where anyone could drop by, Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m.

  • Aug. 28 (this Friday), at 4 p.m., will be the last day to add a class to your schedule.

On Monday in the Student Lounge in the Wethington Building, Dean Phillip Gribble greeted students with doughnuts.

Adrianna Walker, a Communication Sciences and Disorders major from Nashville, Tenn., is very involved — and is most looking forward to those moments in this upcoming year.

“I am a CHS peer mentor, so for me, I think I am most looking forward to the events we are going to have throughout the year,” she said.
