Congratulations to our College of Health Sciences Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer and Torch of Excellence award winners!
Isaiah Jones is our Torch Bearer award winner.
Jones is a third-year physical therapist student in the UK Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He was raised in Shelbyville, where he was an active participant in church, sports and community service.
He graduated with honors from the University of Louisville with a bachelor's degree in health and human performance and concentrated in exercise science. During his time in undergrad, he was a Porter scholar who was heavily involved with many campus organizations, took prominent leadership roles and developed crucial skills which prepared him for a future as a healthcare professional. Mentorship, service and athletics sparked his passion for physical therapy.
After graduation in 2021, he plans to pursue travel Physical Therapy or work with pediatric and athletic populations.
Brandon Reeves is our Torch of Excellence winner.
Brandon Reeves earned a bachelor's degree in 2010 from the UK College of Health Sciences in Communication Sciences and Disorders. After completing his undergraduate degree, he studied at Vanderbilt University where he earned a master's degree in speech language pathology. Following completion of graduate school, Reeves moved to Colorado where he worked for Boulder Valley School District providing speech and language therapy to K-12 grade students.
In 2014, he was accepted to the University of Washington School of Law, earning his degree in 2017. Reeves currently works as an associate attorney for Ogletree Deakins, a national law firm specializing in labor and employment law.
