This track is an opportunity for the PA to gain exceptional operative experience in the field of cardiac surgery as a valuable member of the team. The PA resident’s operative time will focus on cardiac surgery, however there are opportunities for elective surgery rotations in other areas of surgery and the cardiovascular ICU. The majority of the resident’s time is spent in the operating room. The PA resident will provide pre, intra, and post op care, as well as rounding, procedures, and outpatient clinic. By the end of the year, the resident will be prepared to assist in cardiac surgical specialties.
