Students in the Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management program that are certified Athletic Trainers and eligible for licensure through the Kentucky medical board can be considered for paid clinical opportunities as an Athletic Training Fellow. These fellowship opportunities are intended to give students an opportunity to gain 2 years of valuable clinical experience as a certified Athletic Trainer, while having access to mentors and supervisors in the Sports Medicine field.
If selected for an Athletic Training Fellow position, individuals will provide athletic training services in settings working with collegiate, professional and/or youth athletes. The salary is based on a 40 hour work week, with opportunities to work overtime at an hourly rate. These positions will provide health insurance and benefits. Additionally, the positions have associated tuition* coverage mechanisms that cover the costs of the graduate certificate program.
Individuals that have been admitted to the Graduate Certificate program will be made aware of open Athletic Training Fellow positions.
Some of the clinical partners that have Athletic Training Fellow positions include:
- University of Kentucky Athletics - Division I collegiate athletics
- University of Kentucky Orthopedics/Sports Medicine - Division I (Morehead State University), Division II (Kentucky State University), NAIA (Georgetown College), and Professional and Youth Soccer (Lexington Sporting Club) with associated experiences in a university sports medicine clinic
