This program is available to students in specified degree programs who wish to seek employment at UK
HealthCare upon graduation.
What does the Undergraduate Scholarship Program cover?
- This program covers tuition for 13 credit hours per semester. The scholarship covers program-specific
credit hours, not pre-requisite courses. - All approved students will receive $20 per credit hour to partially offset additional education
expenses incurred. This includes books and course materials. - Four-year programs: Students attending a four-year program will be awarded a maximum of
$624.00 per credit hour. - Two-year programs: Students attending a two-year program will be awarded a maximum of
$189.00 per credit hour.
What are the program requirements?
- State of Residence: This program is open t0 both in-state and out-of-state residents.
- GPA: Recipients must maintain a cumulative overall GPA of 2.5 and cumulative program GPA of 2.5 or
higher at all times. Exceptions will not be made.- If a student’s Cumulative overall GPA or cumulative program GPA drops below 2.5 after a
semester/quarter, the student is not eligible to receive funding for the next semester/quarter. - If the student fails to bring their cumulative overall and program GPA t2.5 or greater after this
“unfunded” semester/quarter, they will not be eligible for any additional funding in any subsequent
semester/quarter of his or her program.

- Participants in associate degree programs are required to graduate in six (6) semesters or twelve
(12) quarters - Participants in bachelor's degree programs are required to complete their program in ten (10)
semesters (excluding summers) - Recipients are required to carry at least six (6) credit hours per fall or spring semester.

- Workback Requirement: Upon completion, participants are required to work at UK HealthCare:
- One (1) semester of the scholarship award shall be forgiven for every six (6) months of full-time
service in an eligible title, or; - One (1) quarter of the scholarship award shall be forgiven for every three (3) months of productive
full-time service in an eligible title - Workback commitments can be fulfilled by working at one of the following locations:
- Good Samaritan Hospital
- Chandler Hospital
- Kentucky Children’s Hospital
- Eastern State Hospital
- UK HealthCare Ambulatory Clinics
- One (1) semester of the scholarship award shall be forgiven for every six (6) months of full-time
How do I know if my accredited program is eligible for the scholarship program?
Participants in the following accredited programs are eligible to apply for the scholarship program.
- Associate in applied science (AAS) for programs in the following allied health or laboratory areas:
- Medical Assisting
- Radiography
- Respiratory Care
- Surgical Technology
- Biotechnology Lab Technician
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), all other associate outside of the AAS
- Bachelor’s degree (BSN) Nursing
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training program
- Bachelor’s degree – Cytotechnology
- Bachelor's degree – Medical Laboratory Science
- Master of Science – Pathology Assistant
How are degree programs designated as eligible?
Eligible programs will be managed and reviewed twice annually by the Position Review Committee (PRC)
in July and January. Programs are selected based on areas of need within the enterprise and criteria for that
selection includes vacancy rate, agency rate, turnover rate, projected enterprise growth of titles.
What if my degree program is initially designated as eligible but is deemed ineligible after the biannual
review by the PRC?
Participants that have been accepted into the program under an eligible degree program will be
grandfathered into the program for the remainder of their agreement. Grandfathered participants will still
be required to maintain all other eligibility components of the program.
Are UK HealthCare employees eligible to apply for the scholarship?
Yes, UK HealthCare employees are eligible.
How do I apply?
Applications are submitted through the UK HealthCare website. Paper applications will not be accepted.
The application will prompt you to upload the following:
- Resume
- Current, official transcript
- Program acceptance decision letter
When is the deadline to apply?
Applicants should apply by October 22, 2024, by 11:59 pm for tuition coverage in the Spring 2025
semester.
When will award decisions be made?
All applicants will be notified of their award decision by the end of the day on December 2, 2024.
Recipients must submit their official transcript and signed contract by the end of the day, December
15, 2024.
If I am accepted to the scholarship program once, do I have to re-apply every semester?
Returning participants do not need to apply each semester. Returning participants will only be asked to
provide their most recent official transcript to confirm they are adhering to minimum GPA requirements.
What if I am unable to fulfill the work requirements for this program?
Failure to meet the work obligation shall necessitate repayment of the entire or remaining stipend amount,
plus accrued interest, and any collection costs. This is outlined fully in the agreement.
How are the scholarship funds received?
Scholarship funds are remitted directly to the institution where the degree is being earned. Payment will
not be made directly to the recipient.
